loudbytes Now Reporting to SoundScan!
You can now sell your digital music in the physical world as a t-shirt, button, sticker, water bottle, patch... and have it count as an official sale by SoundScan!
The possibilities are nearly endless.
loudbytes recently signed an agreement with music reporting agency Nielsen SoundScan. The agreement establishes a new framework for digital music downloads to be sold with an almost endless variety of merchandise using loudbytes download codes and online redemption platform. Under terms of the agreement, merchandise that comes with loudbytes music download codes can now be sold as digital singles, EPs, and albums and will count as sales by SoundScan upon redemption of the download code.
It all starts with loudbytes download codes!
1.
loudbytes stores your music and related UPC and ISRC information on our servers.
2.
loudbytes then generates unique download codes that are redeemed online by listeners for your specific singles, EPs, or albums in MP3 format.
Add merchandise
1.
These codes can be printed on, adhered, or attached to any piece of merchandise. You can buy customized merchandise with download codes from loudbytes or just loudbytes download codes and attach them to your own merchandise.
2.
In order for a merchandise and loudbytes download code pairing to count as an official music sale by SoundScan, the download code must be sold for no less than $5.00, $3.00, or $0.50 (album, EP, single, respectively) in addition to the per unit cost of the merchandise item it's attached to.
Sales Reporting & Maintaining Data Integrity
loudbytes and SoundScan worked closely together to develop the following procedures to support this new generation of music products while maintaining data integrity.
1.
After you purchase loudbytes download codes, with or without loudbytes merchandise, we file a project report directly with SoundScan. This report details what the intended use of the code/merchandise pairing will be.
2.
Your music is officially counted as a sale when the loudbytes music download code is sold then redeemed on loudbytes.com by the purchaser. loudbytes reports weekly sales to SoundScan every Monday.
3.
Nielsen SoundScan has created a "Digital Venue Settlement" sheet for artists selling loudbytes download codes at live events. Similar to the standard venue settlement sheet, you must enter the number of codes sold, the per code sale price, and total dollar amount. This form must be signed then faxed into SoundScan every Monday by 10:00am EST. Note, the Digital Venue Settlement sheet is for auditing purposes only and is not used to report your sales.
